Intralogistics – internal material and goods flows

Intralogistics covers all internal material and goods flows: goods receipt and recording, transport, storage, order picking and supply to the line, controlled through a warehouse management system. Planning determines technology selection, space requirements and the degree of automation, ranging from manual conveying and industrial trucks to automated guided vehicles and automated storage systems.

Intralogistics connects processes, material flow, storage, transport and control into one coherent system.

Data analysis in intralogistics

Data analytics refers to the evaluation and analysis of operational data records. In intralogistics it serves to identify from the existing data where improvement is needed — the larger the data volume, the less this can be judged without systematic evaluation. The basis for the assessment is a description of the existing business processes.

Automation of intralogistics

Digitalisation and automation act in two directions in intralogistics: process quality rises and costs fall over the long term. Automated guided vehicles are one example of this automation; they work precisely, reliably and with few errors. Which technology is suitable is decided through technology selection, space requirements and degree of automation.
